Kevin Martin kept his flickering playoff hopes lit at the 2013 Tim Hortons by beating Eddie MacKenzie’s PEI rink 7-2 in the afternoon draw at Rexall Place.
That evened Martin’s won-lost record at 4-4, with a tough, clutch match against Brock Virtue’s Saskatchewan rink on Thursday night.
Martin basically has to win out to have a hope of catching either Quebec’s Jean-Michel Menard or Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs in a tiebreaker.
Martin said his rink is curling better, making more shots, and clutch ones, as it tries to claw its way back into a tournament being dominated by undefeated Glenn Howard of Ontario (7-0) followed by Brad Gushue of Newfoundland (7-1) and Jeff Stoughton of Manitoba (6-1).
