Brock Virtue has the distinction of taking part in the longest match of the opening draw of the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier. More important to the Saskatchewan skip is that his rink came out of its 11-end run with Prince Edward Island on Saturday afternoon as winners.
Saskatchewan pulled out a 4-3 win and will get to rest tonight, with its next match set for 8:30 Sunday morning against Ontario. P.E.I. isn’t so lucky. Skip Eddie MacKenzie will lead his team back into tonight’s evening draw, against Newfoundland and Labrador, which used a five-ender in the sixth-end to beat Nova Scotia 10-2. The evening draw begins at 6:30 tonight.
In the other two games this afternoon, Northern Ontario beat the Northwest Territories/Yukon 11-6 and Quebec pulled out a 5-4 win over New Brunswick.
